Officials from various organisations on Tuesday met to discuss ways to improve the operations ofLao businesses, with the meeting taking place at the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry in
Vientiane on 20 Sep 2022.
Participants exchanged views on ways to improve agribusiness in particular, including policies and cooperation mechanisms towards better and more efficient performance and production. The issues discussed related to product, marketing and supply groups, financing, and supporting banks, who work with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to advance business interests. The topic of product groups and consumer relations was considered, along with enhanced cooperation in production by specific groups, and the provision of finance to these groups by banks.

Following trials in these areas of agribusiness, new methods were found to be successful and several issues were identified and addressed. The sectors involved are continuing to develop and collaborate in various ways to spur crop cultivation and the production of processed agricultural products to boost both quantity and quality, in ways that are sustainable. The meeting was chaired by the Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Daovone Phachanthavong.
