LNCCI and SDI Launch Landmark Skills Testing and Certification Initiative
Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR – July 23, 2025 – The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) and the Skills Development Institute (SDI)
proudly announced the official launch of the Skills Testing and Certification under the ASEAN-Swiss TVET Initiative Project. Held at the Laôtel Hotel Vientiane, this event signifies a crucial step in enhancing Laos’ workforce capabilities.
The initiative focuses on Skills Testing for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) within the Work-Based Learning (WBL) program, part of the ASEAN-Swiss TVET Initiative (ASTI) Project. Over 50 public and private sector representatives attended, highlighting strong collaborative support.
Co-chaired by Vice Minister Mr. Phongsaysack Inthalath, LNCCI Vice President Dr. Xaybandith Rasphone, and Mr. Jean-Gabriel Duss Head of the Office for Development Cooperation and Swiss Consular Affairs in Laos, the launch underscored the importance of skills assessment for economic adaptation and workforce development. This public-private partnership is vital for aligning skills with business needs, fostering higher wages, and boosting national and regional competitiveness.
Currently, 200 testers have participated, with a target of 700 by August 2026. This initiative is set to significantly contribute to a skilled and adaptable Lao workforce.
