Tripartite Workshop on Sustainable and Responsible Business Practice and Trade the Realization of Decent Work and Inclusive growth in Lao PDR on 25 June 2025 at Lao Plaza hotel, Vientiane capital, Laos.
Mr. Vanthong Sitthikoun, Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) was co-chaired the opening ceremony of the Tripartite Workshop on Sustainable and Responsible Business Practice and Trade the Realization of Decent Work and Inclusive growth in Lao PDR on 25 June 2025 at Lao Plaza hotel, Vientiane capital, Laos.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Phongsaysak Inthalath, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, attended by Ms. Xiaoyan Qian, Director of the International Labor Organization for Thailand, Cambodia and Lao PDR (ILO), and executive board of LNCCI, the secretariat committee, and relevant departments from tripartite organizations, as well as associations, groups and business sectors.
The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) on behalf of employers, disseminates to the business sector that is a member of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and to business associations and groups to be aware of information on responsible business, sustainability and responsibility in business, investment and trade to achieve decent, fair and inclusive growth in the Lao PDR and to aim to improve the quality of business, investment and trade to achieve decent, fair and inclusive growth for employers and workers to have security in implementation in business units.
Tripartite Workshop on Sustainable and Responsible Business Practice and Trade the Realization of Decent Work and Inclusive growth in Lao PDR is a tripartite engagement and consultation to strengthen the capacity of ministries, employers’ and workers’ organizations to encourage enterprises to contribute to the achievement of Decent Work for All (SDG8) by using the recommendations of the ILO MNE Declaration, relevant international tools and initiatives to build knowledge, understanding of the practices, principles and instruments of the various roles and to enhance and promote the importance of employers’ and workers’ organizations in enhancing the contribution of enterprises, business sectors, business associations (both domestic and transnational) to economic and social development.
It also builds understanding of the methods, tools and initiatives to promote sustainable and responsible business, trade and investment for achieving Decent Work and Inclusive Growth in the Lao PDR.
The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also collaborated with the ILO through the RVC 2 project to train and disseminate the Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) Principles, Fundamental Labor Rights and Principles, and Occupational Health and Safety over the past few months to members of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and enterprises from various sectors, with good results.
The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), on behalf of employers’ organization will continue to encourage our business sector to become more socially responsible and play a responsible role in the Lao PDR in terms of economic development, job creation for all in society, and human resource development, while also participating in various activities that contribute to social welfare.
