Public and Private Sectors Exchange Swiss Work-Based Learning Insights
Vientiane, Lao PDR – December 15, 2025 – The ASEAN-Swiss TVET Initiative (ASTI) Project successfully hosted a dissemination workshop at the Settha Palace Hotel to share vital lessons from the 2025 Swiss Study Tour on Work-Based Learning (WBL).
The event brought together over 30 high-level stakeholders, including leadership from the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), the Department of Technical and Vocational Education (DTVE) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), and representatives from SDC, EU, and HELVETAS.
Key highlights included a presentation by ASTI Project Manager, Ms. Minla Nanthavong, on the WBL framework, and insights from Mr. Sithai Vongsouvanh of Lao Toyota Service Co. regarding the delegation’s Swiss VET experience. A strategic panel discussion focused on adapting Swiss best practices to the Lao context, emphasizing the private sector’s essential role in human resource development.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward bridging the skills gap and enhancing vocational excellence in Laos.
