The production and supply of organic produce in Vientiane is expected to grow significantly after a farming group in Thongmang village, Xaythany district, has received financing.

The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a signing ceremony on the provision of credit by Banque Franco Lao Ltd. (BFL) BRED Group to the Organic Agriculture Group in Thongmang village. The Chamber will act as the loan guarantor.

According to the Chamber, the financing agreement will support farmers to grow crops and raise livestock, and create sustainable jobs, so that the supply of produce meets market demand and the needs of consumers.

It will also enable more robust domestic production, which in turn will bolster socio-economic development and improve people’s quality of life.

The agreement was signed on September 4 by the President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Oudet Souvannavong; the CEO of BFL BRED Group, Mr  Arnaud Caulier; and the Head of the Organic Agriculture Group of Thongmang village, Mrs Khammorn Luanglath. Thongmang village is a major supplier of organic crops to Vientiane markets.

Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith recently visited the agriculture group and encouraged farmers to expand cultivation. The signing was also witnessed by invited guests from state organisations and the business sector.
