06 July 2020 at Lao National Chamber of Commerce. The public and Private sector meetings between Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) together and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) department of Ministry of Education and Sport (MoES) took place at DCT Service Center in LNCCI.

The main objective of the meeting was to discuss and share the implementation progress of the DCT service center. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vanthong SITHIKOUN, Vice President of LNCCI, and co-chaired by Mr. Somlith Virivong, Deputy Director of TVET department MoES. The meeting attracted participants from TVET Department, National TVET Council-Permanent Office (NTC-PO), GIZ-Vocational Education in Laos (VELA) project, line department of LNCCI, and DCT Service center.

In his opening remarks, the Vice President of LNCCI emphasized that the meeting with the public sector is to exchange ideas on the implementation of the DCT service center and launch of the DCT Service center with the agenda of the LNCCI assembly meeting.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Director of TVET department, the co-chair of the meeting, stressed that vocational education reform continues in the context of ASEAN. Especially in the period of COVID 19 with the new normal living conditions, more attention is needed.

The meeting listened to presentations of the establishment of the DCT service center and the implementation of the activities in the last six months of 2019 and the first six months of 2020, as well as the operational plan for the next six months of the year, and the specific plans for the next quarter (July, August and September 2020). As well as discussing the implementation guidelines for the preparation of the official launch of the DCT Service center.

Promoting vocational education in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce or Vocational and Business is one of the core strategies of the LNCCI in Human Resource Development and DCT is a significant mechanism to prepare students for entry into the labor market by learning both theories from the college and gaining practical experience from their practical training in the workplace”.
