LNCCI and GGGI sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen green and climate technology entrepreneurship and innovation in Lao PDR
Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR, October 15th, 2021. Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which aims to strengthen collaboration and cooperation of both parties to jointly promote green and climate technology entrepreneurship and innovation in Lao PDR.
LNCCI is the apex body in Lao DPR representing the business community, and acts as a nexus between the Government of Lao PDR and private enterprise. The organization is mandated to work with private businesses to address issues, support enterprise development and advocate for enabling policies and regulatory framework for the improvement of business in Lao PDR. LNCCI has the largest network of businesses and associations in Lao PDR including at the sub-national level, as well as valuable expertise and experiences in promoting business innovation.
This MoU will facilitate preparatory work that will lay the foundation of a larger program to support green and climate technology transfer, incubation, and acceleration in Lao PDR. Initial work includes assessments of the Lao entrepreneurial ecosystem and technology needs for climate change mitigation and adaptation in Lao PDR, as well as capacity building and awareness raising on green technology and innovation more broadly. Joint efforts between GGGI and LNCCCI will be undertaken to prepare and design a national program that will feed into the upcoming regional program on “Collaborative Research, Development and Business (R&DB) Programme for Promoting Innovation of Climate Technopreneurship”, supported by the Korean Development Bank (KDB) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in cooperation with GGGI.
