Executive Director of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), as Vice Chair of the Employers and Industry Committee participated in the 2025 National Disaster Management Day, ASEAN Disaster Management Day and International Disaster Reduction Day, and also participate in a seminar on the topic of multi-stakeholder participation to strengthen disaster management work. which was organized by the Central Disaster Management Committee of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. The seminar was chaired by Mr. Phoxay Sayasone, Minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and also the Standing Vice Chair of the Central Disaster Management Committee. Relevant ministries, departments, organizations, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lao civil society organizations, business associations and various sectors participated.

The objective of the seminar is to commemorate the National Disaster Management Day, ASEAN Disaster Management Day and International Disaster Reduction Day. In the past, the government and the Central Disaster Management Committee have made efforts to implement disaster risk reduction by creating various laws, such as the Disaster Management Law. In implementing this law, the government has accelerated the creation of sub-laws, especially the creation of a 10-year National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy Plan (2021-2030), a decree on the Disaster Management Fund to reduce disaster risk in all areas of development, and ensure budgets to be used for disaster management at the central, provincial, district and village levels. In addition, the government has improved the roles and responsibilities and built the capacity of disaster management committees at both the central and local levels by organizing seminars, training, and public awareness campaigns, conducting simulation exercises to understand and know how to reduce risks and respond to potential disasters, and encouraging the creation of disaster risk reduction plans at the local level so that they can be integrated into local socio-economic development plans.

Going forward, the government will focus on developing disaster management mechanisms by strengthening existing mechanisms, targeting the village, district and provincial grassroots levels. This will build capacity for officials responsible for disaster management, develop information exchange systems, especially early warning information, to ensure that people receive relevant information and how to receive timely assistance, including rapid recovery. The Government will continue to implement disaster risk reduction work as set out in the 9th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025 and ensure the implementation of various ASEAN and international regional conventions, agreements and frameworks that the Government has ratified and signed, especially the Sendai Framework and the ASEAN Implementation Plan on Disaster Risk Reduction.
