ASEAN-BIS 2024 aims to unite world leaders, CEOs, and senior executives from multinational and regional corporations to amplify the private sector’s voice in shaping policies that position ASEAN at the forefront of global economic dialogues. The summit will run from October 8 to October 11, 2024, and will feature nine comprehensive sessions alongside the ASEAN Summit of Heads of Government.

Under the theme “Strengthening ASEAN Connectivity and Building Resilience,” Laos will focus on key priorities set by ASEAN and the Lao PDR for the year. The grand opening session will include welcoming remarks from Oudet Souvannavong, ASEAN-BAC Chair, and opening addresses by H.E. Malaithong Kommasith, ASEAN Economic Minister (AEM) Chair, and H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, culminating in a keynote address by H.E. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Lao PDR.

In addition to the main summit sessions, several side events will enrich the program:

• ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) on October 9, 2024, honoring outstanding ASEAN businesses.

• International Symposium on ASEAN Logistics Connectivity on October 10-11, 2024, discussing the implications of recent developments such as the Lao-China Railway and Thanaleng Dry Port.

ASEAN-BAC Lao PDR will focus on priorities such as Digital Transformation, Sustainable Development, Health Care Resilience, Food Security, and Trade and Investment Facilitation to strengthen economic connectivity and resilience.

Special Sessions and Networking Opportunities:

The summit will also host special sessions, including:

• Business Dialogue Reception by WEF: A private meeting discussing the ASEAN Digital Economy Agreement Leadership (DEAL).

• CEO Breakfast by Boston Consulting Group (BCG): A gathering of top business leaders for informal discussions.

• Networking Sessions: Including a breakfast session with the Prime Ministers of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia to bolster sub-regional cooperation.

ASEAN-BIS 2024 is poised to facilitate meaningful dialogues and collaborations between businesses, governments, and stakeholders, contributing to the realization of the ASEAN Economic Community’s goals.
